This wrench presented me with a few challenges even though it's a simple prop used for set dressing. Texturing was easy enough, however I had issues creating the normals map. What I've discovered is that whether you're using Mudbox, Maya, xNormal, or Substance, the algorithm that measures the rays doesn't like faces that are too close together. In this instance it doesn't like the screw being too close to the trunk of the wrench. A fix for this is to map the screw and the wrench separately, and then put the two maps together in Photoshop. This was definitely a learning opportunity.
